Getting Started
If you’re interested in trying Taekwondo, feel free to just turn up at one of our listed classes. If you need any further information, please call Emma, the club Secretary, on 07944 040055, or Kat on 07940 501805, or email us at barnet.taekwondo@hotmail.co.uk. Your first class will be free, so come along and see if Taekwondo is right for you.
What to bring
- A bottle of water.
- After a few weeks of Taekwondo you’ll need to purchase an official uniform. When you start, however, all you need are clean, comfortable exercise clothes in which you can move easily.
- Please be aware that we train in bare feet.
What to expect from a class
Please arrive at least five minutes before your session is due to start. Enter the dojang quietly, and place your shoes and outer clothing neatly out of the way.
Classes generally consist of a warm up session, followed by the practice of basic techniques. Time will then be spent working as a group, in pairs and individually on the main elements of Taekwondo, including self defence, pattern and sparring components.
We believe Taekwondo should be fun as well as challenging. One of the advantages of training with Barnet Taekwondo Club is our relaxed and friendly atmosphere, although we retain our respect for the formality associated with Taekwondo training.
The five tenets of Taekwondo are etiquette, modesty, self control, perseverance and indomitable spirit. These tenets pervade our training sessions, and all our students therefore commit to trying their hardest and above all to respecting their fellow members.
